Stories from our families and their dogs...

December 14ththby S.G.

Marilyn, I know I've thanked you over and over for Chevas, but she is really amazing. I was hoping for a good dog. What I got is beyond words. Just a fast update on her. We have missed several Shutzhund meetings due to my work. But I hired a private trainer for her obedience work and I have been doing what I know so far for Schutzhund. Every week I see improvement. She is also doing noise work at Alaska dog sports and she is really good at it. So good, that I have people at work doing hides for me in hotel rooms, lobbies and offices so I do not know where things are and Chevas finds the scent cans faster then it took them to hide them. I have a small bed bug farm that I keep that we use also for more scent work and she takes to bed bugs like fleas to a dog. She blows me away. She is also just starting to give me a "high five" to let me know that I have low blood sugar also. She is AMAZING! I think she could even learn to drive :-) The only thing holding Chevas back from being WONDER DOG is my lack to training. Of course she does have her puppy moments and loves to entertain herself after she poops me out.

{note: Chevas is being trained as a Service Dog and for Bed Bug Detection}

Hi Marilyn, Bliss aka Hachi is doing wonderful. She is such a calm smart dog and she is really growing. We have been working on basic commands and she has picked them up extremely quickly. She also knows tricks like how to speak. She has gotten a bit spoiled in her eating habits-she likes raw meat and warm milk mixed with her puppy biscuits. She also has a collection of fresh moose bones to keep her busy when she isn't playing with the children.

Samantha 'Green Girl' is doing well and she has grown so much. She's really intelligent and obedient. She went camping, fishing, and boating all summer long! She loves to eat fish and caribou meat! On one trip we went on a boat ride up our river and stopped to take a walk. Samantha started barking and growling to the northeast of where my family and I were. My husband went to check it out and didn't find anything, The rest of time we were there Samantha continuously circled me and my one year old. She walked beside us and would stop and circle us, sniff the air, and then continue on walking beside us. We were very curious as to what she might be smelling. We left that spot and continued on up the river in our boat and when we turned the corner of a hill right on the other side of where we were, we saw a whole bunch of musk ox!! That is what she was smelling and was trying to protect me and my son. She is very protective of my one year old son and pretty much the whole family. She is very beautiful and regal, and we get a lot of compliments on her. Thank You again and God Bless... The picture is of my four year old and Samantha on the four wheeler.

October 24th, 2008 This is Arec at 6.5 months. We are just now starting to work on a little bit of obedience. He did great at tracking this summer. A natural. I see a little of both Ivan and Chaco in him. He has a great temperament. Will send a picture of him and his dad soon. It is great to see pictures of some of the other puppies to see how they turn out. I hope to see more soon.

October 1by Pat & Angelika

Its been a while since I gave you an update on Angelika. Here's one for your books! Sunday afternoon I was going outside to let Angelika romp around, I opened the door and stepped outside (without a clue as to what was about to happen.) I took a step out on the porch and was surprised to see a black bear about 10 feet from me on the other end of the porch. The bear started for me, Angelika started for the bear and we all met at the same time. The momentum carried us off the porch in a furry ball of growling, barking and screaming. We ended up on the ground and the last thing I saw was Angelika with a big mouth full of the north side of a south bound bear. We came out OK, Angelika got a bloody lip (and a mouth full of fur), I lost a good shirt and had a bloody nose. No fear, no hesitation... if she hadn't have been here I think my hash would have been cooked! And once again, I thank you for the worlds best dog.

I just wanted to let you know that King is doing wonderful and he is my best friend. He is getting so big! And he is developing so well, he is just beautiful. In fact, I am always getting compliments on him. The focus exercise you gave me, with telling King "look" worked so well. He caught on quick. I have been working with him on "sit" and "stay" as well. I will start working on recalls next. I have been looking at a few places here in Wasilla that offer obedience classes and was thinking about starting King in one of them. I cannot thank you enough for your advice and time. I want King to have everything he needs and deserves. I take so many pictures and I look back at the old ones and it astonishes me how quick he grew!
