Kennel Policies for Reserving a Puppy:Please let me take a moment to explain how I take deposits and place puppies. If the litter has 10 puppies, I will take 10 deposits for 10 slots. Each person that places a deposit, will be required to give me a detailed account of the lifestyle they live, past training experience, and goals for their new puppy. As the litter grows I keep detailed notes on each puppy, and their developing temperament. At 7 weeks of age I will perform the Volhard Puppy Aptitude Test, which will most likely confirm what I already know. I will bring in a dog training specialist (who hasn't had contact with the puppies) to help me do the unbiased final evaluation. After the testing I will have a better idea of which puppy OR puppies I think would fit best in your home. If there are multiple people I think would do well with multiple different puppies, I will allow people to choose based upon when I received their deposit. Immediately after the temperament testing, I contact each person and inform them of what puppies are available to choose between. At 8 weeks the puppies are available to be picked up, or shipped out to their new homes. I firmly believe that it is much more successful to match puppies to their new owner based upon the type of temperament and the new owner's lifestyle/training experience. Unfortunately, this is why I do not accept deposits that are contingent upon a specific coat color. Kennel Policies Concerning Deposits:All Deposits are considered NON-Refundable, unless the deposit was placed on a litter that doesn't produce any puppies. Or, if the litter is smaller than anticipated and there is not an available puppy for purchase. What Your Puppy Will Include:Each puppy will be completely registered with an AVID microchip and with the AKC. This means you will not be required to submit any additional paperwork or pay any additional fees to these organizations for your dog to be fully registered. I started providing this service to my puppy buyers after finding that almost 50% of new owners will lose their paperwork, forget to send it in, or decide against paying the additional fees required. Since the AVID microchip is an essential tool in recovering a lost pet, these chips are implanted in all Vom Chugach puppies. Veterinary clinics and animal control facilities scan all newly admitted dogs to find out if they were lost or stolen, thereby making the AVID chip indispensible in recovering your dog. When the puppies are registered with the AKC, I will name each puppy according to the litter letter and kennel name. Example: a male from "B" litter Vom Chugach would be named Basko Vom Chugach. New owners can call their new puppy anything they like, but if they wish to have the dogs "official" named changed to something else (starting with the same litter letter), they can submit the appropriate AKC paperwork to me and I will request the change.
